I'm sticking to bike riding after reading this, lol. Kidding but I was cornered by a mountain lionness once who had 3 cubs. Nothing happened but it did make me think whether I wanted to start hiking with something more than just a swiss army knife . . .
The runner showed a lot of presence of mind in being able to fight back but I imagine when the **** hits the fan like that instinct takes over as well.
