Apparently as I learned, decades ago, Super record lever holes were put in the sheet aluminum while it was flat ,
before going into the next punch press, to shape them.

that's why the holes are not round , It was to help wet finger grip, I expect..

a little time with a rat-tail needle file rounded our the holes in mine,,
