Cateye TL-LD1000 on a Brompton

After reading this forum for some time, I've taken the plunge and bought myself a new Brompton S2L. I didn't want a dynamo set-up for various reasons and, admittedly without doing too much homework, bought a Cateye TL-LD1000 rear light. Now I'm stuck how to fit it. Do I need to buy an aftermarket adaptor so it'll fit on the seat post (obviously being careful when I fold the bike)? I'm sure I read somewhere that it could be fitted on the saddle bag thing but I've not got round to buying that yet.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Andy
(PS. I may be back asking a similar question when the front light I've just bought off ebay, a Cateye HL-EL510, gets delivered)
