Quick medical rant:
I use a cpap machine and recently bought two nasal pillows and two air filters from my local supplier. Got the bill yesterday and noticed that Medicare had been charged around $500.
These can be purchased online without a prescription. The highest prices that I found were $9.99 for the filters and $24.99 for the nasal pillows. Both can be found cheaper yet.
So Medicare got charge $500 for $50 worth of supplies.
Yeah, our system isn't broke... much.
In the US healthcare system there is a HUGE difference between "charge," "cost," "payment," and "value."
I don't expect Medicare will actually PAY $500 despite the "charge" but you never know.
