rusty - I've noted your input on the other 73 Comp threads, and both nlerner and narhay come to mind as other knowledgable owners.

I'd enjoy a low key Raleigh Competition thread for all the years to collect and share the info that's currently in separate threads.
Anyone else?

Cool that you scored the Jubilee RD.

If you were to sell it, you'd likely show a profit beyond what you bought the bike for(free?).
I had every intention of talking the seller down from his $70 asking price until I decided he needed the bread and I could spare it. The stock drive train bits will get an evapo rust bath and go into a box for later. Current plans involve a flip flop hub featuring a Surly 17/19T dingle and a 21T freewheel with 42/44T rings, 35mm cyclocross tires - at least for a while. Raleigh Competitions are great tinkering machines, and this one will probably get the full mad scientist work-up.

There is an embryonic Show Us Your Raleigh Competition thread already out there, though it could be fun to do a thread featuring how many different ways they can be built. When I get back home from vacation I’ll have more pix and more to say.
