Possibly you missed the discovery that front derailers and shifting as gotten measurably worse since 11 spd. was introduced ?
I have 11 sp on my cross bike and a new CAAD 12 and they are the best shifting systems I've ever ridden. I also have an older Dura Ace and newer SRAM Red. So, my experience cannot confirm that shifting has gotten worse.
