I'd start with headset spacers to raise the stem, and high rise stem, Something like this, Check the size though.

Or an adjustable stem one like berner suggested.

You can also buy high rise handlebars, But I think that may be challenging to install unless you have some bike repair experience. My friend has a hybrid bike that came with a flat handle bar that he replaced with tall one (about 6") and is very happy with the results.

I tried to make my comfort bike more like a road bike by lowering the handle bars, Mine are easy to lower as this bike has a quill type stem and slid the seat back on the rails for more reach. I didn't like the results so put it back to the way it was.
