Fastroad modification recommendations?
Any recommendations to make a Giant Fastroad a little more upright? I enjoy the bike but getting older and looking to find a way to ride fast but with a little more “comfort”, taking stress of the back, elbows, shoulders.
I thought about getting a Giant Roam but figured it’d be fun to see if I could adjust the Fastroad.
Thanks for any ideas.

I'd start with headset spacers to raise the stem, and high rise stem, Something like this, Check the size though.

Or an adjustable stem one like berner suggested.
You can also buy high rise handlebars, But I think that may be challenging to install unless you have some bike repair experience. My friend has a hybrid bike that came with a flat handle bar that he replaced with tall one (about 6") and is very happy with the results.
I tried to make my comfort bike more like a road bike by lowering the handle bars, Mine are easy to lower as this bike has a quill type stem and slid the seat back on the rails for more reach. I didn't like the results so put it back to the way it was.

If you want to raise bar height without much effort or expense, you can install one of these Delta stem raisers.

Then you can raise or lower the bars to suit.
There is one complication with raising the bars: you will likely have to replace the brake/derailleur cables and housing with longer ones.

Back, elbow and shoulders. Do you feel hunched over on the bike or that you are sitting over the handlebars ? Are you tires pumped up to mac air pressure making for a jarring ride ?
For what it's worth, I had a Roam that I could not stay comfortable on for hour plus rides and after trying seats and even Jones H-Loop bars I ended up trading up to a drop bar Toughroad with tubeless tires and a Brooks B17. All my back pain, shoulder and wrist pain and sore butt have gone away and I have 1500 km on it now including a couple of 5 hour rides. Sometimes a different bike might be the answer.
