man made time zones have discrete boundaries but in reality the sunlight is continuously changing. Sunset in your eastern part of the time zone is much earlier than the western part of the time zone. Probably 30 minutes or more. Think about the longest day of the year in June at the Alabama-Georgia line. On the Georgia side (eastern time) it gets dark at 9:20 PM, if you take 1 step into Alabama (central time), it is dark at 8:20 PM
