It's using tubulars, and in current trim it's a bit under 20 # (small frame, 53 cm c-t).

I'm also old enough to think maybe I don't have a lot more pedaling decades. What we choose to pedal from now on is strictly our own choice, and there are still quite a lot of things to choose from. And if you have it in your heart to pedal your own bike as you recall it after so long, Is that somehow against mixing and matching eras and styles where it offers something?

My newest project, beyond some maintenance and keeping Mrs. Road Fan pedaling happy (TOP priority!), is to get a 1952 Rudge Clubman-style bike up and on the road. By a small amount, this bike is actually older than I am. I got it nearly complete - what's missing is a saddle and a clip to attach the saddle to the steel saddle pin. Also a previous owner replaced one of teh brake levers with a Weinmann. Given the part broke, many people will go with a current part when something fails, and I've done that as well.

At the same time, I plan to build some new period-compatible wheels for it, with 27" Al rims, and a 4-speed Sturmey FM hub with alloy shell. I think this frame will be very comfortable for long distance, for freaks of any age. There may be more "hot-rodding," but we'll just see.
Ahhh you are living the dream!! Good for you. I wish I had the skills to do what you do, but as my dad once said(as many pilots did) Heck no, I just fly 'em!!
I am thinking of just touching up the frame and redecaling in order to keep it as original as possible as it seems more people say it would fetch a better dollar when it's time to sell.
Good luck with all your endeavours. I wish my second half would have been into bicycles, lucky you!!
Cheers.
