Can someone give me an overview of the eTAP series? From what I have gathered there are 2 generations and components are not inter-compatible because of the move from 11 to 12s and addition of AXS. What cranksets and cassettes are compatible with each generation of eTAP? All the promotional videos from SRAM seem to say that nothing other than their overpriced RED/Force crank/cass will work. Red eTap is the 1st generation and is 11 speed.
Axis eTap cones in Red and Force versions, is the 2nd generation and is 12 speed.
You can not interchange parts between 1st and 2nd generation.
I had Red 22 mechanical originally and upgraded to a Red eTap mini-group with was both derailleurs and shifter only. I kept my original mechanical crank, chainrings and cassette. My brakes are Bontrager dual pivot mechanical.
