I can tell you from experience that they work equally well in sun/cloud/rain/low contrast conditions. I tried them last spring for 2-3 weeks with the Rx inserts, but unfortunately my astigmatism is too great to see well with them. FWIW, I did find the Rydon triangular-section bows uncomfortable on my ears.
