My ex had a Hyundai which we put a lot of miles on. After using the cheapest tires I could find for years I bought an expensive set of Michelins for it and it made a huge difference in the way it drove.
If I were just using a car around town for short trips I would go as cheap as I could. I even bought recaps years ago.
Yeah, the Saturn is mainly for the 10 mile each-way trip to work, plus the occasional errand. I should commute by bike but sadly the roads between home and work are unsafe.
