There looks like quite a bit of clearance there...question, and I am sure you have put 27's on to check but it sure looks like you have a lot of clearance there...if not than putting a 27 on the frame will get the correct reach from the SS's.
If they are 27's I would not want to file and material off of the brakes to gain the reach so centers may be the way to go.
