I think all cyclists need to learn how to track stand... Problem solved. However my current gear selection for the SS makes me a bit slow to start.
I've been finding that traveling though traffic on the right side is sometimes better here in melbourne. People tend to sit left of the tram lines which usually blocks cyclists and gives you the joy of having no escape from opening doors.
