For mine, I happened to have a steel fork of of an old Apollo (Japanese bike) that fortunately had a long enough steerer tube to fit my XL Viscount without cutting or rethreading. The main frame of the Apollo had been damaged and I kept the fork not realizing where I would find a use. Maybe you can find a fork at a local bicycle co-op?

My existing fork appears to be the type 3 as a magnet sticks to the area where a steel insert was installed. I will find out for sure when I overhaul the bike. I really want to leave the original fork on but have the steel as a backup if necessary.
