I think the prevailing wisdom on "proper" dirt drop setup is for the drops to be the default position. For that I gather you would need to raise the bars, and probably reposition the levers a bit lower.
But practically speaking, there's nothing wrong with doing what's comfortable for the way you ride. If it feels good, do it. The top picture to me looks like an angle that might bother my wrists after a while, but I'm not you.

For reference, here is the angle I have on my bars. I usually ride the drops, but the hoods aren't bad.
