Well, the seller emailed me back after I told him the proper weigh to bathroom scale a bike (rider+bike - rider = bike weight) and it came back at a more realistic 22 lbs and change.

Before, he tried to balance the bike on the scale and was holding it...hence the 16+ lbs!
