I was in the middle of the second lane from the right, as the right lane is a right turn only lane. I got passed by an articulated bus, which then merged into my lane, leaving me with a narrower and narrower gap.
As sometimes happens with accidents, time slowed down.
I basically saw that I had two choices: get scrunched between the bus and the cars, and go down at high speed; or aim for a car stopped to make the turn and go over the hood.
I chose #2. It hurt, but not that bad. The woman in the car: "Oh my God! I'm so sorry! What did I do?" It would have been funny, because she didn't actually do anything, of course. I had witnesses, a bunch, but I didn't think to get their names at the time, because I was rather shook up. Except for a wicked hop in the front wheel, my bike was okay.
I have continued to hate Muni ever since.
sounds like great fun, the part where you pull a wheelie and ride over the car's hood of course.
