[MENTION=81459]tcs[/MENTION] that reminds me of how I heard of the same benefits from riding a fixed gear — with a low ratio — in the winter. So I tried it. And it’s true. I rarely ride fixed anymore, but the skill stays with me. Riding fixed in the winter has other benefits: 1. Since you’re always moving, it makes you warm, and 2. It’s more work, so you get more of a workout per distance.
