I can tell you from personal experience that pedals do not last forever.I had a pair of Look pedals (made by Look but branded as Performance) that had a lot of miles on them. They had a bit of play in the spindle, probably needed new bearings. One of them gave out on the trainer while I was standing on the pedals - the pedal body broke and that broke the spindle. That hurt! I ended up replacing my old Look Delta pedals with new Look Keos - at $45 each, because Pro Bike Kit was having a sale.
