I wasn't trying to do a direct comparison at all, but to show the widest possible difference between two very divergent frame designs that would put the rider in two different positions. Roubaix vs. CAAD8 (R1000/R3000) as an example of two bikes in the same price category that an LBS might recommend to somebody 40+ with money to spend.

However I have seen Roubaixes set up in low-profile 'race' positions, with a low profile headset and no spacers. This one is owned by a guy from weight weenies:
