I had my left done in 2017. 1/2 inch cut on my wrist. I asked Doc how soon I could ride. He said later to day if you want. I did not , but modern release is very non invasive.
I had other problems in my wrist that were not related to the carpal that required another surgery. You might have cartilage damage in there from your wreck.Takes an mri to see it.
