Wrist nerve release
Have carpal tunnel in both wrists but worse in my right, probably caused by both computer use & the fact I busted that wrist when I was hit by a towncar in the early 90s. Dont ever think youre a football player & stiffarm the hood when they are baring down on you.
So, doc doesnt want me to do "heavy movements" with that limb for 3-4 weeks after the release, so I guess the bike tour the week afterwards is out. (sigh)
Has anyone here had the newer version of this done?
He says its under a local as I cant be put under currently since my BS (diabetic) is still not under control. I could drive but gonna have a family member take me instead as I really dont like needles & stuff (funny huh, especially being a insulin diabetic).
How freaked should I be?

I had my left done in 2017. 1/2 inch cut on my wrist. I asked Doc how soon I could ride. He said later to day if you want. I did not , but modern release is very non invasive.
I had other problems in my wrist that were not related to the carpal that required another surgery. You might have cartilage damage in there from your wreck.Takes an mri to see it.

Thats the one thing over all these years that not one Ortho even thought to do. Glad to hear yours went well, calms my nerves some then.

Well, it was done yesterday. Pretty painless with my ortho but hes good thank the gods. Quite painful today but then again I'm pushing it.
Would I do it again? Right now I'd say no, especially on my dominant hand, thats a PITA.
See Doc next week for followup, we'll see if I need PT for it after this.

IDK ... did you have hand pain or numbness before the release? I did, and I had the release done during the winter. When the riding season started again several months later, I could not believe how nice riding had become. I had to wait for the results, but they were worth every bit of pain and uncertainty. Still pain free 7 riding seasons later. I expect the odds for reduced pain over a long period are pretty high for you, so have some faith in your surgeon.
