So you need a BP med, which is fine. Look it up online and check out the side effects, just so you know if something seems weird you can talk to your doctor about it. The more you ride, as time goes by you'll see your BP and your standing and resting HRs drop. They'll all drop but it takes time, on the order of a few years. Just keep at it, very gradually increasing your weekly total mileage. You're doing fine and it's good to ask questions.
