Then I saw this bike in the boneyard pile. I looked closer and found a lugged Trek 930. So I stuffed it into the car, thinking I'd find someone to give it to. Upon closer inspection I realized it was a 1993 930, last of the lugged Trek mtn bikes. And it's the same size as my 1995 Trek 850. But this frame is intriguing. Still thinking but I have visions of keeping it and moving either it or the 850 to Charlotte and giving my 820 to my grand daughter. She is ready for 26" wheels and trigger shifters.
And that seat post still has 4.5" in the frame, well above the min line. This 18" frame gives me a comfortable reach too. I've done MANY miles on my 850. It suits me.
I've just wiped off the dirt and cobwebs and torn the rotten saddle cover off. Oh, and sluiced out the shifters with light oil so they do work just fine now. Some people give up too easily.
