First, let me be very clear that this is not a sale thread. I'm not soliciting offers. If I decide to sell this bike, I'll post it in the sales forum with an asking price, as per forum rules.

With that out of the way, I'm looking to crowd source some wisdom. I expect there will be some variation of opinions, but I also expect a clear consensus to emerge. I just don't know for sure what it will be.

The scenario: I have a 1983 Gios Professional with a good layer of patina, like actual patina, not scratches or rust, just a thick layer of accumulated build-up. I've got it built with mostly period-correct Super Record components that are of a similar non-pristine condition. I like it a lot, but mostly I like looking at it. The ergonomics of the brake levers and the gearing range I can achieve with the SR derailleurs don't really suit me, so I don't ride it much. I've been thinking lately that it should be ridden more than it is. To make it a bike that I would ride often would involve installing the Campy 3x10 drivetrain that I love so much, and probably also polishing the frame to bring out that vivid Gios blue. I wouldn't do anything irreversible. I probably wouldn't even cold set the rear dropouts -- a 130mm wheel should squeeze in without modification.

Here's a picture of the bike from California Eroica in 2019. You can see that the blue isn't vivid, but I can't get a decent picture of the level of patina. You can possibly imagine it from the degree to which the white has turned yellow. I'm not even sure that would polish out.

So what do you think I should do with it?
