I split time in Phoenix Arizona and rural Ohio. The ones along the bike trails in rural Ohio get robbed or vandalized occasionally, but rarely enough that maintaining them is reasonable, The ones in Phoenix last about 10 minutes and take a very long time to get fixed or replaced, if at all. Kind of like air pumps at most gas stations these days - you definitely can't count on it being in working condition when you need it, with or without quarters.
