Just sharing this amazingly well kept older trek fx 7.5 with my favorite friends here. this is my 5th or 6th fx and i still currently own three: this red one, a white 7.3 and a gray 7.4. i paid only $200 for this well kept machine and it weights ~20 pounds or less.
I got this for my kiddo - she's still a little young and needs to learn how to ride a big kids bike - i will likely take her wheels and put them on my 7.4
This era of the FX was when Trek gave you quality parts for the bike. The new FX offerings are so bad and I feel awful for folks being duped by the shiny new paint jobs. They are giving you inferior grips, seats and pedals and say "oh, we leave it for the customer to pick those." really? you want us to pay $1,500 for a bike and then spend $400 more on quality parts? even the wheels are junk!! such a bad value proposition now from trek. i bet this red fx weighs less than the newest high end model that's $3,000!! im absolutely infuriated by the extreme nickle and diming trek is doing on the FX and likely their other lines.
the margin on these bikes is also north of 60% as i have seen the deal price sheets. while i am all for bike shops making a decent living and supporting local business, i will not however sign up for a 60% markup for such an inferior / low cost to produce bike.
but I digress. I am going to start collecting these older FX's and look for my elanor - the bike i had and sold! it was a white 2011 (IIRC) fx 7.7 with the isozone monostay. that bike was perfection and i really regret selling it. will continue to scout online for one.
