Both of those are just like my set, but not the OP's set, whose I also don't think were bent later, I think they were forged or cast that way. I just don't know exactly how they fit, unlike mine and the links above. They don't work the same. Mine has the end lever parallel to the pivot axis, you squeeze there and it pulls the cable. The OPs has the end lever at right angle to the pivot axis, so squeezing on the end lever will try to rotate the lever on the handlebar.
