What kind of brake levers are these?

These mountain bike levers are stamped TK, early Tektro I presume. The levers are slanted / angled down, cool look but for what purpose? I've never seen this. Are they factory or homemade? The bends are identical. Does anyone know? Much appreciated!

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

I suppose if you positioned them adjacent to bar-end handlebar extensions, as are often used on off-road bikes for an additional hand position, the levers would be accessible when gripping the extensions. But I suspect that the unusual bend is a user-modification, not factory.

I agree that it was probably done by the preivous owner. Hopefully intentionally. The leverage looks pretty bad and off-centered.

Wouldn't forged aluminum snap if it were bent like that? Can see how they might be added to bar extensions/aero bars, or somesuch. Definitely odd.

My thoughts too, aluminum would've snapped if bent too far.

Think I saw those on Antiques Roadshow. Don’t remember the manufacture but they were worth a small fortune.

My mistake, it was a vase, instead.

Bikes: Foundry Chilkoot Ti W/Ultegra Di2, Salsa Timberjack Ti, Cinelli Mash Work RandoCross Fun Time Machine, 1x9 XT Parts Hybrid, Co-Motion Cascadia, Specialized Langster, Phil Wood Apple VeloXS Frame (w/DA 7400), R+M Supercharger2 Rohloff, Habanero Ti 26

They do look intentional but haven't seen levers like that bent that way so I have to imagine some rando did it on their own for some weird reason.

I have these on my bike, designed to work on flat bars with bar-ends; Notice that the outside end is in line with the pivot axis of the lever; In the case of the levers above, no, so I think to use those, you'd have to squeeze with your thumb from bar-ends. But these are mine (a pic I found online before finding a set in the used bin at the LBS), also note the levers are SOLID and heavy, not lighter U-channel, to be stiff enough in torsion when squeezed from the end levers off-center:

Absolutely, unequivocally, those were not bent after forging. No way would aluminum put up with that. No way.

The OPs has the end lever at right angle to the pivot axis, so squeezing on the end lever will try to rotate the lever on the handlebar.
