I had a ~1996 Volpe that I used as a hauler. I liked it. It was reliable and practical. But I didn't love it so I moved it on. Mine was made in Taiwan, and it came with very tough paint.
HaHA! It’s going to be a surprise makeover (which will likely turn heads, good or bad), but I am going to build it up as a gravel-road mix bike…not so much worried about it being a tourer, per se. Probably no fenders though I might budge a little on that.
It will be my “take it to the mountains to visit” bike so low gearing.
