Nope! You can turn that knob to make you feel better but in the end it really doesn't do much. I would start looking at a bike better suited to your needs, the Verve is a very low initial cost bike designed for very occasional riding. Putting money towards it would be an expensive proposition which isn't worth it unless the bike has extreme sentimental value.
