I have a set of the 105's on my commuter bike and a set of ultegra's on my road bike. I can't tell the difference between them when I'm riding. The article you posted said they are heavier and the bearings aren't as good. I can tell the difference between bearings on the D/A and Utegra but not between the 105/Ultegra. These pedals aren't flashy but very functional.
