You don’t need a “genuine” Garmin cable. (*)
You just need a USB data cable. (Some USB cables are power only.)

* There was, apparently, an issue with this years ago but that was partly due to people using charging-only cables.
The idea was perpetuated by Garmin insisting people use the Garmin-labeled cable. Not because it was necessary but because Garmin could be assured people were using a cable that would work.
