Hopefully, not too far off topic. A friend had a matte finished bike, really did not like the "streaks" the finish would get. So much that he traded it in on a gloss finished bike. In all honesty, he wasn't adept to tuning a bike. The gloss bike he traded for was a 1x, was very happy not to have a fd. Looked up the weight savings, somewhere around 20g, not much at all, so guess it's so mfrs. can save some $, I'd say to offer an alternative to those who prefer a matte finish, but to have an alternative, they would have to offer the same bike in gloss also, don't think that is the case, but I've not bike shopped for decades.
