I guess your condition differs from mine. In my case, the veins don’t function properly, so blood pools below the knee. Without compression socks, my ankles swell noticeably (you can press a finger into them and the dent stays for a while before smoothing out). The ankle-length socks help contain the swelling and almost eliminate the mild pricking sensation it causes.
