Deez nutz are inside the ends, between the cone and the track end. They're knurled on one side and notched (for a wrench) on the other. I'm pretty sure they're called cone locknuts. And they do break. I'm going to replace the rear bearings for springtime on mine, but other than that they're fine, just fine.
