Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I love mine, got them last July from Harris (laced to Mavic CP22) and have no problems with them so far.

Broke one "inner locknut" but that didn't stop me from building a second Formula wheelset. Love these hubs. Reliable stuff.
What kind of "inner locknut" should I look for when repairing? Does it have a name? What's the threading? Where could I find it?

I know 99% of the part names on any given bike, I was just trying to deduce what people meant by inner and outer lock nuts, because such terms don't exist. It's either the lock nuts or axle nuts that people are breaking. How one would break the lock nuts is beyond me, but I guess I can see how axle nuts may crack because the washer isn't the sturdiest thing most of the time. Stop cranking down on yr nuts, people!

Deez nutz are inside the ends, between the cone and the track end. They're knurled on one side and notched (for a wrench) on the other. I'm pretty sure they're called cone locknuts. And they do break. I'm going to replace the rear bearings for springtime on mine, but other than that they're fine, just fine.

I have a set that I've beat the crap out of for the better part of a year, still spinning with no grit or weirdness. They've always looked a little cheap to me but, then again, they *are* cheap. When good hubs cost the same or less than a decent set of brake calipers, that's a durn good deal, breh...

The outer locknut (locknut that contacts the inside of the dropout or trackend) split in half today during wheel re-installation after a flat fix in the middle of my century ride. I found a large, almost thick enough washer on the road to slip over the axle so I can remount the wheel.

YES YES Oh my effing god yes... and its usually at the worst effing time possible, like fixing a flat in a race... but other than that mine have been bomb proof

I dunno about the track hubs, but the formula hubs on my felt are fine. I think the fuji wheel I have on the back is a formula hub. It works fine.
