I haven't been tempted to try bar-end shifters,
or aerobars on any of my bikes (singles)...

.... was tempted into buying electronic shifting.
DT, Ergo, electronic = they each work.
Friction shifting with good housing&cable has been the most reliable (over the years) with zero maintenance.
