Good job on the ride. Keep at if you can. I generally don't ride in "events," they tend to be too fast, too slow, or too crowded, though there are a couple I like to take part in. On longer rides (100km +), I'll usually eat something at the two-thirds distance mark, by which time I'm usually starting to feel the distance. The food and the rest give me a second wind, and my final miles are usually my strongest.
This Spring I hope I can start working m way up again, if I can get respite care for my wifeš needed care. But that plan to have something significant to eat at the 60% mark. I always thought it was not ok to eat something substantial at the 33 mile out of 4o mile mark!
