I remember visiting the SF Zoo, which has a smallish population of free-ranging peafowl. One of the males was doing his big display and a woman says, "Isn't she beautiful?!?" Apparently, the fact that the name is peaCOCK escaped her.

My bro and SIL in Hawaii have a peahen who hangs out in their yard. They named her Peahenny.
