Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Maybe it will be on display there for a while. There is a railroad museum there, and it’s a big railfan site.

Where is this post at?

Anyway, RMOT, which I think would make for a great movie or miniseries.

Fostoria Rail Preservation Society Train Festival 2014

I should put that on my bucket list, along with visiting all the midwestern states I've never been to.

First priority on my bucket list is finishing driving the entirety of all the odd numbered US HWY routes from 83 to 101. (and 189, 191, 491,etc)

Damn, I just realized Ramona and I drove all but 34 miles of HWY 189. Poor planning on my part.

If I have time, I'd like to ride all the n/s 90s also. Maybe 89 as well. Get a BOB trailer for my water.

I've already ridden most of 99 and 99E in WA/OR, maybe a decent amount of 99W as well, but I'm not sure off the top of my head where it goes back to being plain ol' 99

ETA: oof, 99w goes almost the whole state of Oregon, I might just pass on riding the rest of 99W

Maybe you should've gone more casual. We could all learn a thing or two from Dale Watson.

I am on the mailing list of a local company that sells seafood. The ordering email comes out every Wednesday. You order by 8 PM and pick up the next day. The preview email sent on Monday said soft shell crabs are in. They sell out quickly. I need to pull the trigger early. They are great on the grill.

I switched to casual last night (with a T-shirt). Same outcome.

Off-topic question: When a credit card expires, does it expire on the first day of the month, or the last day?

letting CC expires increases your utilization rate, which negatively affects your score. just put some minor recurring expense on autopay with it.

Photos out from the SDMBA Arch ride last weekend! Here's me getting sick n' sendy at Sycamore Cyn/Martha's Grove. Total day ~60 miles, 7,000' elevation and almost 6 hrs on the bike, starting with a 75 min road ride from home to the start. Mahalo!

Doesn't answer the question. Does it stop working on 05/01? Or 06/01?

I always figured at the end of the month, but I never really paid much attention. I just keep using them 'til they decline, then think to myself "Self, I guess it's time we activated that card that came in the mail a couple weeks ago.

I think I only have one thing on it set to auto-pay, and that's not until mid-month, so I'll know by then.

The first couple of cards I glanced at in my wallet still said "Valid Thru : xx/xx" which indicates the end of the month to me.

One of our "across the creek" neighbors either has a new dog, OR we have new across-the-creek neighbors who have a dog. In any case, this dog sees Sheila in our back yard, and attempts to strike up a conversation. Sheila does not seem to be interested. I tried to encourage her to interact, at least bark back, but no. Seems thoroughly uninterested. He just barked at her for a solid minute, and her response was to grandly ignore him, just continued basking in the noontime sun.

This is the same Sheila who whines whenever we see another dog on a walk, as if she wants to meet them, and here's a dog practically in her own back yard and she acts like he doesn't exist. Weird.

Someone doesn't know his neighbours.

Sad.
