Eating roadkill is legal in some states. For example, in Montana, if you hit a deer, antelope, moose, or elk, you can take it home for personal consumption. No roadside dressing is allowed. You then must go online and “register” the kill with the state. From what I have read, it’s popular. One benefit is that it means the state doesn’t have to pick up and dispose of the carcass.
