Cyclezealot: Definitely. I have a fixed gear wheel that is built with a IRO (Formula) hub and a Velocity Cliff Hanger wheel. Its 32 spoke with 14ga spokes. I weight about 310 lbs and regularly carry 30lbs in my panniers. I have had the wheel for about 7 months and have put well over 1000 miles with not a single broken spoke, and its just as true now as the day I got it. Its been through some pretty tough hits with the potholes in my area. I would not hesitate to buy them again and again. In fact when I build another bike, it will have velocity wheels on it for sure.

GO VELOCITY!

PS- too much tension will ruin *any* rim, eyeletted or not.
