There is a memorial ride for past cyclists every Good Friday where I live, organised by the local Cycle Action group. I went on it for the first time this year, huge turn out.
Interestingly I learned that the cycle Action group was a direct spin off from a local cyclist getting killed in traffic, and they have lobbied the local council to commit to spending $9m over the next 10 years on improving cycling facilities in the region.
We have cycle lanes popping up all over the place now. It's a pity that it takes a tragedy to get people to wake up and take action though eh
