in that case, I assume you'd wanna do Beach Rd rides? There are quite a few large group rides that are total hammer-fests, and there are other, smaller groups coming out the local shops that aren't so fast. As far as weeknights go, John Kennedy does a couple of very slow, recovery rides (i forget which nights); I've seen a small Hampton Cycles group on Wednesdays, and they don't seem to be going too hard; Terry Hammond does a Wednesday night ride, and they go about half/three-quarter pace till the last 10km, where they fire up

There's also a Beach Rd., Tuesday night ride that hits the cnr of New St. and Beach at about 6:45pm.

As I suggested, there are other rides, you've just gotta ring around the shops. I'm not sure how welcoming some of the shop groups are, and I know some of them are a bit elitist, but I'm not gunna name names. Fairdinkum, some of them dress up in their matching bike shop gear and think they're a pro squad. It's a farkin joke!! I know Kennedy will welcome just about anyone.
