I've always had the brakes as right-front on every bike I've had. I only realised this year that they're cabled up differently in other countries. It has been much less confusing mixing motorcycling and cycling with the front on the right on both.

With the rear wheel, if it's just a bump on one rim, you can smooth it out with wet and dry. If it's both sides and you're not sure you can true it up yourself, go see your LBS and they'll charge a couple of bux to fix it on the spot
