Don't actually get as much total water coming from the sky in seattle/portland as you'd expect- most of the time it's overcast, with occasional light rain/misting. Rarely the downpours we've been having here.
The solution to the seattle weather is simple, tho- if you drink enough coffee in the morning, and enough beer in the evening, the constant rain and total lack of natural sunshine is compensated for.
