you should leave some of the logo on each side to pull together and tie off on the underside, otherwise the saddle will break down faster. the above mentioned swift is constructed this way, to give the middle of the saddle, some support!

Actually no the swallow has flaps riveted together underneath, the swift has abreviated side skirts but is not tied.
When I chopped mine I decided to tie it ala swallow. You can also tie them without leaving flaps by just punching a few holes.
